Mercy Adenrele Adegboye

One Death too many!!! Tribute to Mummy Mercy Adenrele Adegboye I MET MUMMY ON HER WEDDING DAY! I was a young child, yes ,child, growing up at Ijioni,Ijesa, circa 1971 or so when, beautiful, brilliant, pristine, professional and winsome Mummy Adegboye wedded my late paternal uncle ,late Mr Babatope Adegboye at Ijesa Methodist Church. Theirs was the first white wedding I witnessed. On that day I decided I would go to school and do a white wedding! For years ,I kept remembering the anthem sang at their wedding: A a A ki o,BabaTope A ki o,Adenrele A ki o, Adenrele Elese Osun,Ma a gbese lookookan! Mummy was a great family leader in the Olukunle Family system. I later learned, they lost their Mother young and Mummy took up the reigns. She was well loved , thoroughly loved by her siblings. When Mama Iloko' died ,she led a group of respected and respectable women: Mrs Oladimeji and co and they sat at my corner and I humbly and joyfully entertained them. When I learnt Mummy had retired to Ijesa ,I always at least, once a year sent gifts to her and the other Aunties. The last time I visited Ijesa,I sent photo frames of your granddaughter' s graduation that I caught on Facebook. I wondered if Mummy ever saw the frames! I think the last time I saw Mummy alive was at Prof Anifowose's celebration of life. My deep condolences to my Aburos and the entire Adegboye,Sabiyi and Olukunle Families. Mummy, you ran your race well. You will forever be missed and remembered. My special condolences to Mummy's only biological sister,Mrs Dele Ajiboye. Olorun a Tu gbogbo ebi Ninu NI ORUKO JESU.
