I first met Mummy over the phone while I was dating my husband. When he told me I was going to speak with his Mum over the phone for the first time, I was anxious and I didn’t know how the conversation would be and I prayed that I would say the right words to impress her. Mummy was such a chilled Mama, so jovial, so receptive and friendly with me over the phone, that made my anxiety disappear, she even gave me a Yoruba name, “Ebun”. Mummy was such an easy going person, easy to love, always cracking jokes. One of the lessons she taught me without even knowing was to not allow any difficult situation steal my joy, as I experienced Mummy at one of the most difficult times of her life still cracking jokes, being positive and loving God. She lived a life of generosity, an impactful life of service to God, one that we hope to emulate. Her death came as a rude shock and very painful and unexpected, I am grateful to have known her and had her for the short time she spent with our family. I love you Mama Niyi, May your gentle soul rest in the bosom of the Lord.
